CONFIRMATION: It is time to talk about a Confirmation program for this year. If you are 12 years or older and you feel ready to confirm your baptism, please contact the Church office. Classes will begin as soon as a class has been formed. Adults may also participate.
INFORMATION: For more information on Sunday School and the programs followed plus other information please click HERE
PARENTS WITH CHILDREN: There is a nursery corner for toddlers available downstairs in the Church Hall during our worship service. The nursery corner features a rocking chair, toy box, and children's furniture. A washroom with a change table is available in the Church Hall. The Conference Room is also available if a private nursing area is required. The Conference Room can be accessed through the side doors at the front of the sanctuary. There is a washroom located within the Conference Room. Our children's program, Godly Play, is available most Sundays and is primarily designed for children ages 4 - 11. The Godly Play room is adjacent to the Church Hall and is supervised by two adults, the storyteller and the door person.
FOOD ALLERGIES: During our Sunday morning children’s ministry, Godly Play, we often share a small meal, “the feast”, consisting of fruit juice, water, cookies, and/or fruit. Please notify our Godly Play leaders if your child has any food allergies or special requirements.
FEAST PEOPLE: “Feast people” are those individuals who provide food and beverage for “the feast” – a special common meal that is part of most Godly Play sessions. We are asking parents to donate small juice boxes and cookies, with gluten free option, for each week of Godly Play. We require a variety of apple, orange, and other assorted flavours each week. Feast people must arrive by 10:00am on the Sunday of their donation and assist the Godly Play door person in preparing the feast baskets.
SUNDAY SCHOOL LEADERS: Are you interested in volunteering? We welcome new volunteers who are willing to read a story/lead an activity with a small group of children. The commitment is only three consecutive Sundays, 10:30-11:30am – and leaders may sign-up for as many 3-Sunday blocks as they wish. An individual one-hour training session is provided to all new volunteers, and the readings and activities are outlined in an easy-to-follow, step-by-step guide. Volunteers are also given access to a website where they can watch videos to help them prepare their activities. Topsail United offers a unique Sunday School program where children experience workshops in Art, Music, Games, Science, Cooking, and Video – with each workshop exploring a particular theme of the Bible story. We also offer Godly Play where children experience the dramatic re-enactment of a Bible story through figurines and props. Please contact Brett Vey if you are interested.
Communion Sundays: Communion Sundays are the first Sunday of the month from September to June inclusive. The children start downstairs for their lessons and then join the congregation for Communion.
Family Services:
Family Services are the third Sunday of the month from October to June
inclusive. Please remember that there are NO Sunday School lessons on these
Sundays. However, we do try to plan some interesting family-oriented things
for these services. We are also always looking for children and parents who
are willing to participate as readers and greeters. Please let Brett
Vay know if
you would like to help out at Family Services in this way.
The second & fourth Sundays of the
month are regular services and the children leave the service after the Talk
Time to head downstairs for their lessons.
SUNDAY SCHOOL NICKELS:
The penny is being phased out of Canadian currency. As a result, our Sunday School children will be collecting nickels from the congregation to donate to the 'Nickel Bucket.' There is a bucket available in the vestibule and also one in the Sunday School! Each year, monies collected from the Buckets are donated to a variety of global social justice initiatives.
